No, this is normal. When submerging an alginate impression in a water-based solution the impression will dissolve a little. The longer the impression is submerged, the more the impression will dissolve. As long as the impression is not left submerged for too long, dissolving will do no harm to the accuracy.

Immediately after removing the impression from the mouth, rinse under running tap water to remove saliva and other residues. Disinfect the impression as normal.
